Force Operations Centre, HQ, Inverness
Temporary Contract: 1 Year, with possibility of

Grade 4; currently £16,167 - £19,965
per annum (pro rata)
The Force Operations Centre currently has a
vacancy for a Control Room Assistant to cover weekend shifts.
The Control Room Assistants contribute to the effective
service delivery of the Force by providing an efficient call
handling service to police officers and the public, including the
handling of 999 calls.
To succeed in this crucial role, you will
require excellent interpersonal skills to ensure you deal with each
individual call in an appropriate manner. As the first point of
contact to callers, you will need to be able to cope with a wide
range of enquiries with sensitivity and discretion, including
liaising with officers out on the road via radio
communications. This is a challenging role, often working in
a pressured environment, so the ability to make effective decisions
using your own initiative is essential.
Full training will be provided on in-house IT
systems, however, knowledge of Windows-based computer packages and
5 O/Standard Grades, or equivalent, including English and Maths are
essential.
This post is initially being offered for a
period of one year, although this may be extended depending on
funding. This particular vacancy will cover 14 hours per week
on weekend shifts. The post-holder will be required to work
Saturday and Sunday, with alternate weeks of day shift; 1000 – 1800
and back shift; 1600 – 0000. The post-holder will also need
to be flexible to work from premises at Dingwall on occasion.
